My Story

I am originally from a small town in Western Ohio and I have had the privilege to live in many wonderful places around this country since then. Since starting in the Outdoor Leadership field, I have been able to work as an outdoor instructor, outdoor guide, naturalist, wilderness therapist, and a few other neat jobs! Warren Wilson is the fourth school I’ve had the opportunity to teach at and I’ve also been able to work for organizations such as Outward Bound and travel up and down the West Coast working with K-12 schools in outdoor education. I LOVE sharks and get to work with them on a tagging program among many other hobbies. My research focuses on how we can develop transferable skills for the 21st century such as creativity and self-efficacy as well as focusing on using nature as a way to understand and increase our mental health.
