My Story

I am a librarian by profession and a historian by passion. How did that happen? Ever since I was a kid growing up in Germany I loved to read. I also come from generations of teachers, so I wanted to work in a college or at a university. My grandfather and my aunt taught history, so I always had history books at my fingertips and adults to talk to about history. My father was a genealogist, ran a library in the local castle, and lectured on history. When I came to the U.S. to live, looking at things through the lens of history helped me make sense of my new home. So here I am, running a library and doing historical research. It is the ideal job. Come on over to our beautiful Pew Learning Center & Ellison Library and let’s talk: about your research interests, about history, about books, about whatever.
