The Communications Crew supports the Warren Wilson College Marketing department. You have the opportunity to collaborate with the marketing staff to craft creative content to promote the school. Communications Crew photos can be seen on the Warren Wilson website and across our various social media platforms!

Photography/Videography
Enthusiast and well-seasoned photographers and videographers alike can find their spot on the Communications crew! Grow your photography and videography skills while being at the center of campus events, then develop your editing and post-production talents with the support of your peers and supervisor. Find the perfect angles, lighting, and backdrops as you develop a portfolio of portrait, landscape, candid, and event photos.

Social Media Specialist
As a Social Media Specialist, you support the Marketing staff in drafting content for Warren Wilson College’s Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook accounts. This position is highly creative and flexible. You’ll immerse yourself into campus events, courses, crews, and the culture of Warren Wilson as you brainstorm and implement creative ideas. You will collaborate with the student photographers and the marketing staff, and also can learn how a professional social media account is managed and other aspects of digital marketing to utilize in your future career.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll spend years working alongside your peers with the mentorship of your supervisors.  Part of the experience of work at Warren Wilson is guided critical reflection, which helps ensure that you achieve both your own educational goals as well as our Common Learning Outcomes. These intentional learning outcomes distinguish our Work Program, giving it focus and relevancy that set it apart from a federal work-study or your average part-time job.

In addition to our Common Learning Outcomes, each crew in the Work Program identifies crew-specific goals for learning and performance. These are reviewed with you each semester. Your crew-specific learning goals outline skills and abilities your supervisor will teach you during the semester.
