The MFA Program for Writers

Founded in 1976 by Ellen Bryant Voigt, The MFA Program for Writers was the country’s first low-residency MFA Program. It remains one of the top writing programs in the nation. The program is structured to meet students’ needs, to help them recognize specific strengths and address specific weaknesses in their work, and to encourage them to see themselves as active participants in the creation and study of literature.
