Gramm Leach Bliley Act
Warren Wilson College complies with Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (GLB) as it pertains to financial institutions including colleges and universities. The law protects consumers or customers who obtain financial products or services to be used primarily for personal, family, or other household purposes. In order to safeguard customer financial information, the College has implemented an Information Security plan based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cyber security framework including assessment, appropriate systems controls, and employee training. GLB also includes specific requirements regarding the privacy of customer financial information. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has ruled that being in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) satisfies the privacy requirements of GLB.
