Warren Wilson College is pleased to announce the appointment of three distinguished individuals to its Board of Trustees. The new members bring experience across various industries, further strengthening the College’s leadership and commitment to its mission of experiential education, environmental responsibility, and community engagement.
Among the new trustees is Troy Ball, an entrepreneur and philanthropist with extensive experience in business and community service. A licensed real estate agent since 1987 and an entrepreneur, in 2010 she founded Asheville Distilling Company and later Braini, a cognitive health supplement company. She has served on multiple boards, including the Nature Conservancy Advisory Board and the AB Tech Community College Board, and is a champion of education, business innovation, and health advocacy.
Also joining the Board is Anthony Curcio, who brings nearly three decades in impact and infrastructure financing. A Senior Partner at Summit Consulting, he has played a key role in designing and implementing federal investments in energy, infrastructure and industrial policy. Previously, he worked at the White House Office of Management and Budget, specializing in credit risk modeling. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and an MA from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS).
Tom Maher, a nonprofit leader and finance professional for more than 40 years, also joins the Board as the third and final new trustee. As president of Pisgah Investments Foundation since 2012 serving nonprofits in Western North Carolina and Charleston, S.C., he advocates for solutions to eradicate food insecurity, improve mental health, and extend educational opportunities. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards in Asheville including Dogwood Health Trust and was a founding board member of Esperanza Academy and the Beverly School of Kenya. With a background in real estate investment and finance, Maher brings expertise in financial growth and strategic development.
Their collective leadership will support Warren Wilson College’s strategic growth and ongoing dedication to its students, faculty, and community. The new trustees join a dedicated group of individuals committed to furthering Warren Wilson College’s mission of providing a distinctive, innovative, inclusive, experiential liberal arts education.Â
