Professor Candace Taylor Directs Asheville Play

"The Lifespan of a Fact" is directed by Warren Wilson College Professor of Theatre Candace Taylor, and it stars Warren Wilson alumnus and up-and-coming actor Conor Donahue '17

The North Carolina Stage Company opened the clever and timely comedy, “The Lifespan of a Fact” on April 13. The play is directed by Warren Wilson College Professor of Theatre Candace Taylor, and it stars Warren Wilson alumnus and up-and-coming actor Conor Donahue ’17 to play one of the three roles in the play. Donahue returned to Asheville from Washington, DC to play Jim.

This smart, darkly funny script follows the real life story of author John D’Agata and fact-checker Jim Fingal as they navigate the high stakes world of publishing; battling over fact, fiction, and everything that lies in between in D’Agata’s most recent essay. Their hard nosed editor plays referee and must decide how far she’s willing to stretch the truth for the perfect story. Discretionary Warning: this play contains strong language, adult themes, and mentions of suicide.

“It is intelligent, thought-provoking, and challenging to the audience: the theatrical equivalent of the best kind of fiendish board puzzle…” -The Daily Beast
