Britannica Guide to Black History – click on Black History, then choose your time period to look at articles on topics or on important individuals in politics, history, the arts, education, and religion. Clio's Digital Forge – primary resources and images for teaching early American history. Chronology of the History of Slavery and Racism Colonial Williamsburg Foundation – notable for its "Electronic Field Trips." Digital Library of Appalachia – offers electronic editions of bibliographic, full text, and media resources, providing information on the culture, geography, environment and history of the Appalachian region. Documenting the American South Eastern North Carolina Digital Library – contains 399 fiction and non-fiction volumes, 150+ museum artifacts, maps and educational material pertaining to the history of the 41 counties in Eastern North Carolina. North Carolina in the Great War, 1861-65, better known as “Clark’s Regiments.” Gateway to African American History – from the US Department of State, this site includes documents, articles, Internet sites and other resources which honor and
acknowledge the accomplishments of African-Americans. The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition – includes over 200 primary documents from 1692 through the 20th century. Historic government publications from World War II: a digital library – more than 200 WWII-era pamphlets in the Southern Methodist University collection are digitized here, with an emphasis on the home front. Historical Publications of the United States Commission on Civil Rights – since its inception in 1957, the United States Commission on Civil Rights has been at the forefront of efforts by the Federal Government and state governments to examine and resolve issues related to race, ethnicity, religion and, more recently, sexual orientation.
