Library InstructionThe librarians offer one-on-one instruction to library patrons at the Reference Desk every hour that the library is open. Patrons can drop-by for this service, or make an appointment, particularly if more in-depth assistance is required.
Librarians are also available to meet with classes. We routinely meet with all First Year Seminar classes, where students receive the basic library instruction they need to help them throughout their time at Warren Wilson and beyond. We also can meet with any other classes and provide tailored presentations to fit the needs of the particular course. Usually, we create individualized web pages for the courses that outline the major sources and resources available. For hands-on activities and research practice, we have a wireless laptop lab so that each student, or pairs of students, can follow along with the librarian during the session, or work on their own with the librarian available for any needed assistance.
The librarians often develop exercises that enable students to get hands-on experience with key resources, and we are available to work with faculty to help develop exercises or other assignments.
If you have questions about our instructional services or would like to schedule a session, please contact Heather Stewart Harvey.
