• Internet Resources for Higher Education Outcomes Assessment (http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/UPA/assmt/resource.htm).  Compiled by NC State University, this comprehensive site is especially useful to institutions that are designing a comprehensive assessment process.  Note the  9  Principles of Good Practice for Assessing Student Larning.

• American Association of Higher Education Assessment Forum (http://www.flaguide.org).  Especially useful are the Classroom Assessment Techniques overview (click on CATs) and the interactive tool that matches assessment techniques to your goals/outcomes (on the CATs page,click on the blue goals  box in the banner).

    Learning Outcomes and Outcomes Assessment

• Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (http://vrd.ucv.cl/importaciones/Teaching-Learning/CATeachingLearning/online/outcomes.html)          This site guides you through the writing of learning outcomes step-by-step.  It includes examples of learning outcome statements and provides a  grid of action verbs, based on Bloom's taxonomy.
  

• Developed by the Saint Edwards University Learning Outcomes Initiative, this site also guides you through the process of writing learning outcomes.  It includes helpful examples and non-examples ( http://www.stedwards.edu/cte/resources/learningout.htm).
  

• Center for Teaching Effectiveness:  Assessment and Evaluation (http://cte.udel.edu/eval.htm).  Includes background papers on assessment.  Note the sample learning outcome statements and the rubrics for assessing learning outcomes.  There are also  resources for designing end-of-term student evaluation tools.
  

• Created by the Center for Support of Teaching and Learning at Syracuse University (http://cstl.syr.edu/cstl/T-L.htm).  This site has some useful resources for teaching in general.  Note especially the Topics for Teachers button, classroom assessment link.

•  From the Centre for Teaching Learning at University College Dublin, Good Practices in Teaching and Learning  (http://www.ucd.ie/teaching/good/lea.htm).   Of interest are especially the sections on the use of learning journals across different disciplines and the assessment of reflective writing.

• This site (http://www.locn.org.uk/office/accreditation/writeunits.htm#4) is about writing units, but it also has useful information on constructing learning outcomes for a variety of levels and how to assess the outcomes.

• Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education.  Compiled by the Association of College and Research Libraries, these standards formulate learning outcomes for library research (http://www.ala.org/ala/acrl/acrlstandards/informationliteracycompetency.htm).

• Developed by Flinders University in Australia, the Teaching for Learning website offers an online assessment tutorial, in addition to numerous ideas to "maximize student learning and invigorate the teaching experience."  Point your brower at http://www.flinders.edu.au/teach/assess/tutorial.htm.
