Alex Morris, senior editor
This week’s Kid on Campus is Rebecca Hettrick, daughter to John and Allyson who work with Alumni Relations and Academic Affairs respectively. Rebecca was Pocahontas for Halloween and enjoys reading Harry Potter at a rapid rate.
Alex Morris: What do your parents do at WWC?
Rebecca Hettrick: My dad is the alumni director and my mom is in academic affairs.
AM: Would you want to do this?
AM: If not what would you do?
RH: I would be an artist.
RH: At home I’ve been drawing monkeys in capes. My mom keeps telling me to stop, but I keep drawing more and more.
AM: That’s funny; why are you drawing monkeys in capes?
RH: For Halloween I guess.
AM: And what were you for Halloween?
AM: What do you think of Warren Wilson College?
RH: I think it’s really fun. It’s got a lot of neat students; it’s fun to know a lot of them.
AM: Do you think you want to go here one day?
RH: Yeah, hopefully my Dad will still work here, and I”ll be on his crew, but he doesn’t have a crew this year.
AM: What crew would you be on if it wasn’t this one?
RH: Farm Crew
AM: What school do you go to?
RH: W.D. Williams
AM: And what grade are you in and how old are you?
RH: I’m in the 5th grade and I’m 10.
AM: What’s your favorite subject in school?
RH: Harry Potter. I just started reading them a month ago and I’ve finished the sixth one. I can’t wait for the sixth movie. I’m looking for the seventh one in my library.
AM: Do you have a favorite band?
RH: No not really.
AM: What’s your favorite Halloween candy?
AM: Do you have a favorite color?
AM: How about pets?
RH: I have a dog named Gus and a cat named Rosie.
AM: Do you know what today is?
RH: Election day.
AM: And if you could vote who would you vote for?
AM: And why is that?
RH: Because my parents like him, and I like him, and I want an African American for president.
AM: Do you know who our current president is?
RH: George Bush.
AM: What do you think about him?
RH: I don’t really know too much about him.
