Required training time

Larry Modlin

September 4th, 2007

Larry Modlin, Vice President for Business Affairs, has given Warren Wilson College over 18 years of dedicated service. His financial acumen, strong support of the Triad, and innovative thinking have kept Warren Wilson on track to greatness, and I thank him for his outstanding work. Larry will be retiring from the College at the end of this fiscal year (June 30, 2008) to pursue other interests, but his fine work here will be long remembered.

August 2007 Report to Campus

The fall term has begun well with the arrival of a terrific group of first-year students. They have hit the ground running in classes, work assignments, and extracurricular activities. From all I’ve heard and seen, the Admission Office once again has delivered a group of students of whom the College can be proud. So I’ll start by thanking Richard Blomgren and his Admission colleagues for their successful recruiting efforts.

2007 Convocation Address

If you live long enough, life repeats itself in fascinating ways—sometimes with delight, as in moments when you enjoy comfortable conversation with long-time friends; and sometimes with frustration, as in moments when predictable bad habits return for yet another visitation. For example, despite being otherwise disposed toward a regimen of timeliness and good organization, I tend to delay writing articles, speeches, and even books until a point so late in the process that it sometimes even frightens my ever-calm wife, Evelyn.
