Warren Wilson College Service Day focuses on hunger and food security

The 2014 Warren Wilson College Service Day – the highlight of Orientation for new students – occurred Aug. 22 at 22 Buncombe County locations.

Hunger and food security in the local community was the focus of Service Day for the fifth consecutive year. The day included more than 350 students, faculty and staff working at school and community gardens and at other project sites.

“For new students, this day is an opportunity to get to know their new community,” Dean of Service Cathy Kramer said, “and learn from the people and experiences that are part of their new home in WNC.”

Fall semester classes at Warren Wilson College begin Aug. 25 with the annual Triad Day.
