Road construction and rainy weather gave way to a sunny Appalachian spring day and a very popular 2014 Plow Day on the Warren Wilson College Farm.
Also known as Field Day, the event had been scheduled for this past September. But like so many activities during Asheville’s rainiest year on record in 2013, Plow Day was postponed – to April, not a bad time for plowing in any case.
The April 12 event near the Swannanoa River not only was favored by fantastic weather, but by pipeline construction along Warren Wilson College Road being completed just a couple of days prior. People young and old streamed in throughout the day, enjoying all kinds of fun including plowing by draft-horse teams from around the Southeast. A delicious Warren Wilson barbecue lunch added that much more to the festivities.
