It smells like smoke!
On Tuesday the Landscaping Crew worked on a controlled burn of native grasses at different sites around campus. “I was walking up Jensen trail toward my dorm and saw stuff burning. At first I didn’t know what was going on, but then I saw Tom and the Landscaping Crew. Pretty cool,” said a student spectator on their walk home.
The controlled burning of these grasses imitates natural processes and invigorates the plants. It also reduces the risk of wildfire. “I can’t wait to see the wildflowers blooming in the spring,” said Sarah of the Landscaping Crew.
Public Safety and the local fire department were made aware of the burn. This is just one of many of the College’s sustainable practices in action. The wildflowers are sure to look absolutely beautiful come springtime.
Thanks again, Tom LaMuraglia, Caleb Mende and the WWC Landscaping Crew for keeping our campus attractive and on-point.
