Taylore Huntley presents on experiential education at writing center conference

Taylore Huntley, a junior creative writing and mathematics major, presented with her Writing Center Crew supervisor, Julie Wilson, at the Southeastern Writing Center Association Conference at East Carolina University on February 6.

Taylore became interested in applying experiential education to Writing Center work when she took the Experiential Teaching Methods course with Annie Jonas. Taylore realized that writers could play a more active role in their own learning if they wrote detailed action plans at the end of their writing center sessions, and she worked with other crew members to stress action plans with writers.

Taylore’s ideas were well-received at the conference, with several participants sharing that they planned to implement action plans in their own writing centers.
