Maryka Lier ’06 invites the Warren Wilson College community to the Minority Health Conference (MHC), the largest, longest-running student-led health conference in the United States.
Lier is a graduate student at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and co-chair of the MHC, which attracts over 500 attendees and even more online through the webcast. The MHC offers a forum for students, researchers and public health practitioners to come together to discuss health issues facing minority populations. The theme for this year’s conference, “Innovative Approaches to Youth Health: Engaging Youth in Creating Healthy Communities,” highlights unique strategies that incorporate youth as advocates and leaders in their communities, as well as how providers can best involve youth in public health practice and research.
All are welcome to attend the conference in Chapel Hill or join online for the webcast on Friday, February 28, 2014. Click here for more information, including keynote speakers and breakout sessions.
