Spanish Explorers
In the end there was only one survivor among the 125 or so Spanish soldiers who had established early in 1567 the first European settlement in the inland of what later became the United States, at Fort San Juan near present-day Morganton, N.C. Now, archaeologists including Warren Wilson College professor David Moore, have located the site of the ill-fated Fort San Juan.


Ceramics exhibition at Asheville Arts Council

July 31st, 2013

Art professor Leah Leitson curated a group exhibition of ceramics titled “Pots That Pour” at the Asheville Arts Council. The exhibition opens August 2 and showcases ten clay artists from around the country. The hand builders and throwers from Nebraska, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina use a variety of clay bodies and firing techniques.
