The Warren Wilson swimming teams capped off a successful season at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships this past weekend.
14 of the 15 Warren Wilson swimmers set personal best times with many setting multiple personal records. Freshman Curran Clarke led the way by breaking the Warren Wilson 1000 Yard Freestyle record with a time of 10:57.30. Clarke set the mark during the 1650 Yard Freestyle swim marking the second time he has broken the record this season.
Seniors Will Stroud and Cooper Parkerson also set personal bests. Parkerson moved to second place in the Warren Wilson record book in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:42.32. He also scored in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:11.33.
“A great weekend for the swimmers,” commented head coach Andrew Pulsifer. “We set many personal best times and the team scores do not reflect the success we had.”
The Owls competed against a very strong field comprised of NCAA Division-II, NCAA Division-III, and NAIA schools. Both teams finished in 12th place.
The ASC Championships conclude a successful season for the Owls. The men’s team set numerous personal bests, had Clarke set a school record, and won the Warren Wilson Invitational. The women’s team also set numerous personal bests, defeated NAIA Berea College, and stayed competitive throughout the entire season.
