Owls Put Scare into Division-I Western Carolina
The Warren Wilson men’s basketball team led by five after 10 minutes and was down just three with 15 minutes to play before falling to NCAA Division-I Western Carolina 78-53 on Monday night in Cullowhee.
The Owls held the Catamounts to just 36% shooting in the first half to keep in striking distance, but a plus-10 advantage at the foul line helped Western Carolina pull away for good. For the game, Western Carolina was 17-22 from the free throw line while Warren Wilson made just seven of 14.
Freshman Tyler Triplett had a career-high 13 points to lead the Owls. Junior Rashad Ali added 11 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Ty Johnson also scored 11.
Warren Wilson is back in action on January 18 against Virginia University Lynchburg in the USCAA Classic hosted by Johnson & Wales in Charlotte.
