Warren Wilson College has begun 2011 with two new campus initiatives that further deepen its strong commitment to sustainability.
One is the college’s Sustainable Practices Guide, which recommends actions that support Warren Wilson’s core values and formal pledges including the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. Developed by the campus Sustainability Working Group to replace Warren Wilson’s Green Office Guide, the new guide goes well beyond office practices to cover areas such as transportation and campus events.
The other new initiative is the Sustainability Recognition Award, which aims to strengthen the college’s fulfillment of its formal sustainability commitments by recognizing up to three projects per year. From these three projects, the Sustainability Working Group will select an annual award winner that not only best reflects the principles of the college’s sustainability commitments, but also engages the Warren Wilson learning Triad of academics, work and service.
