"Katie Spotz completed her mission Sunday, becoming the youngest person to row an entire ocean solo, and the first American to row a boat without help from mainland to mainland. Paul Magnarella, chair of the peace and justice studies department, has won an Appalachian College Association / Mellon Foundation Fellowship.
Matt Dawes and Jacob Sessoms, who operate Table in Asheville, are being recognized by the Beard Foundation.
R Dwayne Betts ’10, a graduate student in the MFA Program for Writers, has received the NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Literary Work – Debut Author.
