Lewis David Hart banned from WWC campus

Lewis David Hart, the man arrested on Oct. 2 for felony possession of a firearm on college property, is banned from campus. Hart is a 5’9" white male, age 48, with long salt and pepper hair in a ponytail with a bushy gray beard. See picture. He drives a mid-90s red Ford Explorer in good condition with NC tags WZH-8790. If he is found on campus, he will be arrested. If you see Hart or the vehicle on campus, call Public Safety at (828) 230-4592 and 911 immediately.

Strategic Plan

This week the Board of Trustees Planning Committee approved the latest draft of the Strategic Plan. The draft now goes to the full Board for review at its October 9-10 meeting. After that meeting we’ll make final changes before submission to the Board in December.

Alma Shippy Memorial Scholarship

Alma Shippy was a quiet young man from Swannanoa when he made history by becoming the first black student to enroll at Warren Wilson Vocational Junior College in 1952 – two years before Brown vs. Board of Education.
