Headwaters Gathering to focus on climate change in Southern Appalachia
Just as climate change has become a very real issue globally, its potential impact regionally cannot be ignored. In the Southern Appalachians, a biological "hot spot" with varied ecosystems, the issue poses a growing challenge to the environment, economy and community life. It is against this backdrop that the first Headwaters Gathering is being held March 27-29 at Warren Wilson
The gathering has a theme of "Southern Appalachia at the Crossroads: A Call to Action." The three-day agenda, which seeks to bring together a diverse group in a collaborative environment, includes a number of people at the forefront of climate-change issues.
