The latest distinction comes from TheDailyGreen.com, an online publication of Hearst Communications, which placed Warren Wilson No. 2 on its list of “10 of the Greenest Colleges in America.”

In its feature with the subtitle of “These Schools Are at the Head of the Class in Going Green,” the publication notes that Warren Wilson “has environmental sustainability baked right into its core” and that its students “are aces at recycling and composting.” It also observes that the college is “a leader in green building and design.”

The recognition is one of several Warren Wilson has received in recent months from various magazines. Also this summer, Blue Ridge Country magazine cited Warren Wilson in a feature titled "The Future of Appalachia: 14 People and Places Making a Difference in the Region," and Blue Ridge Outdoors selected WWC as the Southeast’s "Greenest College" for the second consecutive year. This past fall, the Sierra Club’s Sierra magazine ranked Warren Wilson No. 3 among the "10 Coolest Schools" nationwide in the fight against global warming.
