WWC featured in New York Times article

MANY colleges say their mission is to mold young minds, but a few take it to the next level. They have a particular philosophy about how life should be lived or knowledge absorbed, and they want to make sure their students are not just reading about it or dabbling in it. They want their students to live it, day in and day out, for four years. Sound intense? It is. A bit offbeat? That too. Such colleges are not for everyone, nor do they want to be.

October 2007 Report to Campus

I’m using this monthly report to offer some thoughts about our governance process. My goal is to get us thinking about changes that might give more members of the community the chance to influence the direction of the College. But before I launch into that discussion, I’ll comment briefly about happenings on campus this past month, offer a “communication opportunity” to students, and give you the latest draft of a “vision statement” I’ve been sharing with you.

WWC mountain bike team takes second place at nationals

Kylie Krauss finished first in the women’s overall competition and Patrick Hurley second in the men’s, leading Warren Wilson College to its fifth consecutive second-place team finish in Division II of the 2007 USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships in Banner Elk.

Davis Foundations grant to support new environmental curriculum

Warren Wilson College has been awarded a $193,265 grant from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations to develop a groundbreaking environmental curriculum, Advancing Environmental Literacy.

Warren Wilson College has received a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Bible grant in the amount of $21,170 to help develop a "Bible and Eco-Social Sustainability" program focus within the religious studies department.
