Faculty, Staff, and Students:
My last monthly report included a few thoughts about shared governance. If you’d like to take part in a discussion on the topic, you’re invited to an Open Forum on Monday, December 10, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in Canon Lounge. You’re welcome to drop by any time during that 90-minute period if the topic interests you.
There’s no particular agenda for the December 10 meeting. It’s simply a forum for you to offer your views and to give others an opportunity to do the same. In other words, plan on a very free-flowing event. Here are a few general topics–you may have others to introduce:
–advantages of our current shared governance system
–suggestions for any changes that may be useful
–comments on committee structure and membership
–communication between the Student Caucus and Staff Forum
–communication between the PAC (President’s Advisory Council) and student/faculty/staff leadership
–use of Community Meetings
–policies and procedures that relate to shared governance
If the results of the meeting suggest a second forum would be useful, I’ll schedule one for early next semester. As well, I’m of course open to any ideas the Student Caucus and Staff Forum may have on the topic this year.
